Delhi opener Priyansh Arya fell for 199 on the opening day of Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat at the Air Force Ground B in Palam. He reached his maiden first-class century in 125 balls and finished with 30 boundaries in a 220-ball innings.

Arya charged the Gujarat seamers repeatedly on a slow pitch and added an unbroken 234-run stand with captain Ayush Badoni, who remained unbeaten on 115. Delhi reached 381 for four at stumps.

The 24-year-old had played only five 50-over matches for India A since the IPL season. Delhi trail by nine wickets after losing their season opener to Bengal.

CricHubb Take

Arya's near-double shows he has already made the red-ball adjustment that selectors demanded, yet he may still wait for an India A tour before a senior call-up.
