Rashid Khan returns to top of T20I bowling rankings for eighth time
Rashid Khan returns to the top of the T20I bowling rankings for the eighth time, having spent more time at number one than any other bowler.
Rashid Khan is back at number one in the T20I bowling rankings. It's the eighth time the Afghanistan leg-spinner has reached the top, and he's spent more than twice as long there as any other bowler. He's also the current ODI number one.
Rashid told the Hindustan Times last month how far Afghanistan have come since his debut in 2015. He remembered their first series win, against Zimbabwe, and the ones that followed over West Indies, England, New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan. India remain the side they haven't beaten.
He and Mohammad Nabi still talk about the journey, usually over green tea and dry fruit. His back has settled enough for him to hope he can play red-ball cricket for Afghanistan again.

The back issue is the real clock now. If it holds, Afghanistan keep the one bowler who has beaten everyone except India; if it doesn't, the thread that has held their rise together frays fast.
