India spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule said Ravindra Jadeja remains under consideration for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Bahutule noted Jadeja's improvement as a bowler over the last six months and his utility with both bat and ball. The team will assess Jadeja alongside Axar Patel in upcoming series before making final selections.

Jadeja returned to the ODI side for the first match against West Indies after missing previous series. He bowled his full quota of 10 overs and conceded 54 runs without taking a wicket. In his last 10 ODIs, Jadeja has taken five wickets, with four coming in the first three matches of that sequence.

Bahutule praised Kuldeep Yadav's performance in the opening ODI, where the left-arm wrist-spinner took 4 for 40. Kuldeep became the fastest Indian spinner to reach 200 ODI wickets, achieving the milestone in 123 matches compared to Anil Kumble's 147 matches. Bahutule said Kuldeep works hard at his game and comes prepared into series after his recent county stint.

Jadeja's selection case now rests entirely on his batting utility and experience rather than his bowling impact, a reversal from his peak years when his left-arm spin was considered an automatic selection criterion across formats.
