Rishabh Pant focuses on next opportunity after losing vice-captaincy
Rishabh Pant said he is focusing on the next opportunity after losing the Test vice-captaincy and his ODI spot.
Rishabh Pant said he will focus on the next opportunity after losing the Test vice-captaincy and his place in India's ODI squad. The wicketkeeper-batter spoke ahead of captaining Rest of India in the Irani Cup against Jammu and Kashmir, his first red-ball match since the Sri Lanka Test tour.
Pant described his approach as keeping things simple and giving his best in every game. He acknowledged that setbacks are part of an international career that can last 15 to 20 years, adding that his recovery from the 2022 car crash reinforced the value of that mindset. Pant is not part of India's ODI team for the West Indies series, with KL Rahul remaining the first-choice wicketkeeper.
His next international assignment is the two-Test series against New Zealand in November. Pant said he is not worrying about selection, form or fitness and would rather focus on the game in front of him.

Pant now has one format left where India still pick him. Every innings in Srinagar carries extra weight because a failure here narrows his route back to the white-ball side even further.
