Rishabh Pant said exclusion from India's white-ball squads is part of an athlete's career and requires maintaining belief in one's preparation. He told the Business of Sport podcast that setbacks are inevitable over a 15-20 year international career. Pant added that critics find it easier to pass opinions than to put in the required work.

Pant will lead Rest of India against Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup starting Thursday at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. He said domestic cricket offers opportunities to share experience with younger players and to learn from those around him. Pant emphasised keeping interactions light and treating the squad like a family.

He said his approach remains simple: focus on what is in front of him and give his best every time he takes the field. Pant noted that his next international assignment could be the Test series against New Zealand in November.

Pant framing the snub as routine rather than a verdict suggests he sees the Irani Cup as a controlled environment to re-establish red-ball credentials ahead of the New Zealand Tests.
