Sourav Ganguly appointed Delhi Capitals head coach
Sourav Ganguly takes over as Delhi Capitals head coach with a brief to revive Rishabh Pant's IPL career.
Sourav Ganguly has been named head coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2027 IPL season. The former India captain previously served the franchise as director and mentor in a less hands-on role.
Ganguly's appointment comes at a time when Rishabh Pant is looking to revive his IPL career after struggling at Lucknow Super Giants. Pant's T20 numbers have declined since 2017, and his body language at LSG suggested frustration with his role.
Ganguly has spoken positively about Pant's potential at the Kotla and believes the middle-order batter can flourish with the right support. There is also speculation that Pant could be considered for the captaincy if Axar Patel is moved on.

Ganguly's track record of identifying and nurturing talent could give Pant the environment he lacked at LSG, but results will depend on how much authority the franchise actually grants him.
