BCCI president says fitness and performance, not age, should decide 2027 World Cup selection
Mithun Manhas stated that fitness and performance, rather than age, should determine India's 2027 ODI World Cup squad.
BCCI president Mithun Manhas said fitness and performance, not age, should determine selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The tournament will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21.
Manhas said the selectors and coaches will decide the squad, but added that players who are fit and winning matches should be considered regardless of age. He noted that having Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya alongside Shubman Gill would help distribute leadership workload.
Kohli will turn 39 and Rohit will turn 40 during the tournament. Both have retired from Test and T20I cricket.
