Rohit Sharma kept team interest ahead of self, says ex-selector Sharath
Ex-selector S Sharath says Rohit Sharma stood out for keeping the team's interest above everything else and treating every player equally.
Former selector S Sharath credits Rohit's habit of putting the team first for India's success under his captaincy. Sharath told Indian Express that Rohit treated every player the same and made sure those not playing still felt part of things.
Sharath's comments come after Rohit led India to the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2024 T20 World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have said the same, with Bumrah pointing to how comfortable young players felt during the 2024 home Tests against England.
Rohit also backed youngsters when their confidence dipped. Kuldeep remembered Rohit telling him to play freely when self-doubt crept in during rough patches.

Selectors will now look for the same man-management skills when they pick the next white-ball captain, not just results.
