Former England all-rounder Samit Patel has called Virat Kohli the master of a chase. Speaking to ANI ahead of the World Championship of Legends 2026, he praised Kohli's ability to shift gears and stay composed after crossing 15,000 ODI runs.

Patel also singled out Rohit Sharma's leadership and explosive batting at the top, naming him one of India's best leaders. He grouped Kohli with Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith as the Fab Four, and tipped India, Australia, England and South Africa for the 2027 ODI World Cup semi-finals.

Patel warned against rushing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old needs time to make mistakes, he said, without the weight of early expectations.

By naming Kohli and Rohit as still elite, Patel quietly pushes back against the idea that India's next rebuild must start now.
