BCCI to review Rohit Sharma's 2027 World Cup plans on September 3
BCCI meeting on September 3 will examine Rohit Sharma's role in 2027 ODI World Cup plans.
The BCCI will discuss Rohit Sharma's future and India's 2027 ODI World Cup plans during the September 3 management meeting in Mumbai. Reports indicate selectors and the board are not aligned on whether the 39-year-old should be retained for the next cycle.
Rohit has expressed his desire to play in the tournament scheduled for South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The meeting will also address injury management and player availability ahead of the New Zealand tour.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and VVS Laxman are expected to attend. Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has said Rohit's experience would be an asset for the two-time champions.

The selectors' reported reluctance to retain Rohit suggests they may prioritise a younger core even at the cost of experience, a shift that could reshape India's middle-order strategy for the next four years.
