The BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee completed interviews on Thursday for the fifth selector to replace Ajit Agarkar. Candidates were asked about Rohit Sharma's role in the 2027 ODI World Cup and how to handle Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's selection for T20Is. Ramesh Powar and Wasim Jaffer are among those shortlisted.

Agarkar was not offered an extension after informing Rohit that he was no longer part of his plans. The BCCI publicly backed Rohit to continue. Interim chief selector Pragyan Ojha is expected to remain in charge.

The committee also asked candidates about potential replacements for Shubman Gill as captain if he were injured. A decision on the fifth selector is expected soon.

CricHubb Take

The questions posed to candidates show the BCCI is still shaping its long-term white-ball leadership and selection policy even as the 2027 World Cup approaches.
