Rohit Sharma says he will keep Gill happy to play in 2027 World Cup
Rohit Sharma said he will keep Shubman Gill happy to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup while speculation about his own future continues.
Rohit Sharma said he would keep Shubman Gill happy to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup. The 38-year-old now plays only ODIs for India after Gill took over as captain in late 2025.
Rohit made the remark on the Family Full House show. Speculation about his retirement arose during the England tour, but BCCI denied reports that an official told him he was not considered for 2027.
Gill wore a Temple health-tech device on his forehead during training at Eden Park, Auckland on October 29. The device tracks cerebral blood flow, stress, recovery and movement. Gill scored 732 IPL runs at a strike rate of 163.02 in 2026 and has 3,713 ODI runs in 70 matches at an average of 64.01.

Rohit's public endorsement of Gill for 2027 signals that India's transition planning is now focused on the next World Cup cycle rather than the immediate T20 series.
