Matt Renshaw took a one-handed catch at slip to dismiss Ryan Rickelton as Australia reduced South Africa to 97 for five on the second day of the rain-affected Test in Gqeberha. Scott Boland took four wickets including two in successive deliveries.

Rain delayed the start until 3.45pm local time. South Africa lost three wickets for 77 runs in 30 overs of play. Temba Bavuma and Rickelton added 52 runs for the fifth wicket before Renshaw's catch ended the partnership.

Boland finished with figures of four for 31. Australia lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Durban.
