10000. Rohit reaches ODI runs as opener in record 202 innings

Rohit Sharma became the fastest batter to 10,000 ODI runs as an opener, reaching the mark in 202 innings during the third ODI against West Indies.

Rohit Sharma became the fourth batter in ODI history to complete 10,000 runs as an opener during the third ODI against West Indies. The India star reached the landmark in 202 innings, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record of 214 innings. He needed two runs to achieve the milestone and did it with a flick off Jayden Seales on the third ball of the match.

Rohit joined an elite list that includes Sachin Tendulkar, West Indies' Chris Gayle, and Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya. The opener was under pressure because departing chief selector Ajit Agarkar had indicated the team wanted to move on and look at Yashasvi Jaiswal.

India lost Shubman Gill for one and Virat Kohli for a golden duck in the first three overs of the match at New Chandigarh.
