1024 balls — Abhishek reaches 2000 T20I runs fastest

Abhishek Sharma broke Suryakumar Yadav's record for the fewest balls taken to score 2000 T20I runs.

Abhishek Sharma reached 2000 T20I runs in 1024 balls, breaking Suryakumar Yadav's previous record of 1164 deliveries. He achieved the milestone during the third T20I against West Indies in Indore on Sunday.

The opener scored 69 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes before falling to Shamar Springer. His 108-run stand with Ishan Kishan carried India to 223 before Arshdeep Singh's three wickets sealed a 14-run win.

Dinesh Karthik said Abhishek has become a consistent scorer at that strike rate because he combines aggression with smart decision-making. The left-hander will have another opportunity to build on the record in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
