117. Gill reaches ODI double century faster than any batter

Gill's 117-ball double century came during a 255-run opening stand with Rohit Sharma as India posted their highest successful ODI chase.

Shubman Gill reached the fastest ODI double century in history during India's chase of 406 against West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday, getting to 200 off 117 balls. The India captain surpassed Ishan Kishan's previous record of 126 balls against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2022.

Gill finished unbeaten on 223 off 133 balls with 26 fours and eight sixes, becoming only the second batter after Rohit Sharma to register multiple ODI double centuries. He also became only the second player after Glenn Maxwell to score an ODI double century while chasing.

Rohit Sharma reached 12,000 ODI runs during the innings, becoming the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to achieve the milestone. India completed the chase with 39 balls to spare, securing an eight-wicket victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
