Aakash Chopra names LSG and GT as possible IPL 2027 bidders for Shai Hope
Aakash Chopra said LSG and GT could bid for Shai Hope if they release current keepers and openers.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra said Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans could be interested in acquiring Shai Hope at the IPL 2027 auction. LSG have already let Rishabh Pant go and may release Nicholas Pooran, leaving them without a keeper-opener. Hope could open or bat at No. 3 depending on how the franchise sets up its top order.
Gujarat Titans might also consider Hope if they let Tom Banton go. Jos Buttler would then move to No. 3, creating space for Hope at the top. Chopra ruled out interest from RCB, KKR, CSK, RR, DC, PBKS, MI and SRH because those franchises already have settled openers or multiple keepers.
Hope has amassed 1,897 runs at a strike rate of 139.69 in 70 T20I innings. He scored two centuries in the ongoing white-ball series against India and will chase three records held by Chris Gayle when West Indies play the third T20I in Indore on Sunday.
