Aakash Chopra says Bhuvneshwar Kumar may still return to ODIs

Aakash Chopra said selectors appear to view Bhuvneshwar Kumar only as a T20I option after he was omitted from the ODI squad for New Zealand. He added that strong performances in the five T20Is could still earn Bhuvneshwar a recall for ODIs.

Bhuvneshwar made his T20I return after 1,446 days in the rain-shortened fifth match against West Indies in Bengaluru. He did not bowl as the match was abandoned after 7.4 overs.

Chopra noted that Bhuvneshwar does not play 50-over domestic cricket, which explains the selectors' caution. He said the seamer could be drafted into ODIs against Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe if he proves his fitness in New Zealand.
