Aakash Chopra says Vaibhav Sooryavanshi must wait for T20I chance
Chopra said Sooryavanshi has no place in the side while established openers perform well and urged rotation or a Ranji release if he stays unused.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra said Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will have to wait for a T20I spot because no batting place is available. He added that the 15-year-old can only replace Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma or Ishan Kishan, all of whom are performing well.
Chopra said India should rotate the four players to give Sooryavanshi opportunities, but noted that no one agrees with the idea. He suggested that keeping the teenager in the squad without playing time serves little purpose and that he should be released for the Ranji Trophy in such cases.
Sooryavanshi has scored 246 runs in eight T20Is at a strike rate above 186, including two half-centuries. He remained on the bench throughout the five-match series against West Indies that ended 2-2.
