AB de Villiers sees third peak in Virat Kohli's ODI career

AB de Villiers described Virat Kohli's current aggressive ODI approach as a third peak that makes him nearly unstoppable ahead of the 2027 World Cup.

AB de Villiers said Virat Kohli is experiencing a third peak in his ODI career ahead of the 2027 World Cup. The former South Africa captain described Kohli's current aggressive approach as a new level of freedom that makes him nearly unstoppable. Kohli scored an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls with nine sixes in the first ODI against West Indies.

De Villiers said the 37-year-old is operating with a relaxed mind that makes this version of Kohli better than his 2016 peak. He noted that Kohli is now more focused on guiding others in the Indian dressing room.

De Villiers also said he would not leave Rohit Sharma out of India's 2027 World Cup squad, citing his leadership qualities and the belief he instils in the team.
