Abdul Samad says he aims for 1,000 to 1,200 Ranji runs next season
Abdul Samad said he fell short of his personal target of 1,000 to 1,200 Ranji Trophy runs after scoring 748 at an average of 57.53 for Jammu and Kashmir last season. He told reporters he focused on spending time at the crease without overthinking and waiting for the right delivery. Samad converted several half-centuries but missed out on additional centuries.
He described his role as steering the team out of trouble in difficult situations and said he has grown accustomed to batting in challenging circumstances. Samad added that he enjoys red-ball cricket because the format's ebb and flow creates varied scenarios that test different aspects of batting. He said switching from multi-day to T20 cricket requires only about a week of practice to regain rhythm.
