Abhishek Sharma praises Sanju Samson for batting at number three to allow Sooryavanshi to open

Abhishek Sharma credited Sanju Samson for moving down the order so that 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could open the innings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 45 off 19 balls after Sanju Samson batted at number three to allow the teenager to open against New Zealand at Sky Stadium on 27 October 2026. India reached 199 for 4 in 13.2 overs to win by six wickets. Abhishek Sharma said Sooryavanshi's first-ball boundary gave him energy and praised Samson for sacrificing his usual batting position.
