Abhishek Sharma hits fastest T20I century by batter from Test-playing nation
Abhishek Sharma reached three figures in 30 balls against Afghanistan, breaking Rohit Sharma's nine-year-old record for India's fastest T20I century.
Abhishek Sharma struck the fastest T20I hundred by a batter from a Test-playing nation with a 30-ball effort against Afghanistan in Delhi. He finished with 108 from 34 balls, striking 11 sixes and nine fours, as India posted 221 for seven and won by 127 runs.
The innings eclipsed Rohit Sharma's previous Indian record of 35 balls set against Sri Lanka in 2017. Abhishek now has three T20I centuries, the third-most by an Indian after Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.
Abhishek revealed he received a text from Yuvraj Singh before the match advising him to avoid forcing shots. He said the message helped him rotate the strike rather than attempt big hits from the first ball.
