Adam Voges says Perth Scorchers' Chennai opener is a historic event

Perth Scorchers will open their Big Bash League title defence against Melbourne Renegades at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 12 December. The BBL season-opener will be played in India for the second consecutive year.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges said the side is preparing for unfamiliar conditions. Fast bowler Brendan Doggett is currently with Australia A in India and will return for the BBL.

BBL officials said they are open to continuing the practice of starting the season in Chennai if logistics remain favourable.
