Adelaide Strikers sign Mark Chapman for 2026-27 BBL season

Adelaide Strikers announced the signing of New Zealand batter Mark Chapman on September 15 for the full 2026-27 Big Bash League season. The 32-year-old will join Ben Stokes and Matt Short under head coach Tim Paine at Adelaide Oval. Chapman holds dual New Zealand and Hong Kong citizenship and has played in three ICC white-ball tournaments.

Chapman recently gave up his New Zealand central contract to pursue franchise cricket. He scored 69 off 33 balls for Islamabad United in PSL 2026 and represented Washington Freedom alongside Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. Head coach Tim Paine said Chapman’s ability to change games quickly made him a key addition ahead of BBL|16.

Chapman said playing at Adelaide Oval with world-class teammates was the main draw. The Strikers now have three high-profile overseas batters with proven T20 records across multiple leagues.
