Ahmed Shahzad criticises Saim Ayub for Sooryavanshi send-off

Ahmed Shahzad says Saim Ayub should focus on performance rather than social media gestures after the send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Former Pakistan batter Ahmed Shahzad has criticised Saim Ayub for giving a baby cradle send-off to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the Asian Games men's cricket final. India won the match by 19 runs to defend their gold medal. Shahzad said Ayub should focus on his performance rather than social media antics.

Sooryavanshi scored 15 off nine balls in the final before being dismissed attempting a reverse sweep against Ayub. The teenager had struck two sixes earlier in his innings. Shahzad said such gestures do not look good in international cricket regardless of the player's age.

India posted 211 for six in the final, with Abhishek Sharma scoring 61 off 28 balls. Hasan Nawaz made 96 in Pakistan's reply but the target proved beyond reach as the visitors finished on 182 for six.
