Ajinkya Rahane says Devdutt Padikkal has temporarily sealed No. 3 spot for India

Ajinkya Rahane said Devdutt Padikkal has done enough to temporarily secure his place at No. 3 in the Indian Test batting order. Padikkal scored back-to-back centuries during India's 1-0 Test series win against Sri Lanka.

Rahane was impressed by Padikkal's impact in the series and felt the batter had earned the opportunity. Padikkal expressed disappointment after Sri Lanka forced a draw in the second Test at Colombo.

The batter was left with a mark on his back resembling a tattoo of his name and jersey number after fielding for over 240 overs across the two Tests under testing conditions.
