Albie Morkel appointed head coach of Joburg Super Kings

Albie Morkel is stepping up from the backroom to take charge of Joburg Super Kings. Stephen Fleming stood down earlier this month, and the franchise has turned to the former South Africa all-rounder with less than three weeks before SA20 2026 starts.

Morkel played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and has been around the Joburg set-up since the franchise began. His own playing record — 58 ODIs and 58 T20Is — gives him the experience to shape a side that finished fourth last season and now needs to climb higher.
