Anrich Nortje left the field with a suspected groin injury after bowling 3.3 overs on day four, leaving South Africa a bowler short while enforcing the follow-on.
South Africa fast bowler Anrich Nortje sustained a suspected right groin injury on the fourth day of the second Test against Australia at St George's Park and did not return after bowling 3.3 overs. Cricket South Africa confirmed he would take no further part in Australia's first innings. South Africa had already enforced the follow-on after dismissing Australia for 99, with a 326-run lead. Marco Jansen took five for 33 and Kagiso Rabada claimed two wickets in the innings. Travis Head remained unbeaten on 87 as Australia reached 156 for four in their second innings at stumps, still trailing by 170 runs. Nortje had returned to Test cricket in the first Test after more than three years away and bowled 40 overs in that match.
