Arshdeep Singh equals Full Member T20I wicket record

Arshdeep Singh reached 39 wickets in 2026 to equal the Full Member record for most T20I wickets in a calendar year after taking one wicket in the third T20I against New Zealand.

Arshdeep Singh took one wicket in the third T20I against New Zealand to reach 39 wickets in 30 matches in 2026, equalling the record for most T20I wickets in a calendar year by a bowler from a Full Member nation. Ireland's Joshua Little set the previous mark with 39 wickets in 2022. Arshdeep claimed his wicket in the second over when Tim Seifert was caught at point.

The left-arm pacer has taken 149 wickets in 102 T20Is and needs one more scalp to become the first Indian to reach 150. He has claimed four wickets across the three matches played so far in the series. Former India captain Ajay Jadeja praised Arshdeep for adjusting his line after a modest first match and bowling awaygoing deliveries to the New Zealand openers.

Jadeja said Arshdeep showed quick thinking by not being stubborn about his natural inswinger and instead targeting the batters' weaknesses. Arshdeep remains India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is.
