Arshdeep Singh takes 38 wickets in 2026 to set India T20I record

Arshdeep Singh broke Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Indian record for most T20I wickets in a calendar year with his 38th scalp of 2026.

Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets in India's second T20I against New Zealand at Hagley Oval on Saturday to reach 38 wickets for the calendar year. The left-arm pacer removed Tim Seifert in his opening over and Glenn Phillips in the 18th over, surpassing Bhuvneshwar Kumar's previous Indian record of 37 wickets set in 32 matches in 2022.

Arshdeep has taken his wickets across 29 matches at an economy rate of 9.29. He is also four wickets away from becoming the first Indian to reach 150 T20I wickets in his career.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to the India side for the first time in nearly four years and claimed one wicket in the powerplay as India took early control of the match.
