Ashwin reveals Nehra was considered for CSK coaching role

Ravichandran Ashwin said Chennai Super Kings looked at Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra as a possible replacement for Stephen Fleming. Nehra was one of several names the franchise discussed before settling on Zaheer Khan.

Ashwin pointed out that Nehra has no reason to leave GT since he's running a successful franchise. He added that two other Indian legends and some foreign coaches were also in the mix, though the deals never came through.

Ashwin welcomed Zaheer's appointment, saying the former India pacer has the cricket knowledge and the rapport with MS Dhoni to steer CSK in a single direction.
