Australia rest frontline pace attack for England ODIs after South Africa series loss

Australia have rested their leading fast bowlers for the England ODIs after losing the Test series in South Africa.

Australia have left out their frontline pace attack for the three-match ODI series against England. Pat Cummins will hand the captaincy to Mitch Marsh while Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Ellis are also absent. Matt Renshaw and Cameron Green have been added to the squad, and 21-year-old Mahli Beardman is in line for his ODI debut.

Chair of selectors George Bailey said the changes are aimed at managing player workload ahead of the New Zealand Test series. Beardman returns after recovering from injury, while Ellis is unavailable. Tim David has also been left out of the ODI group.

Cummins blamed the batting after Australia collapsed for 111 while chasing 288 on the final day in Cape Town. The series defeat leaves the Test side facing selection questions before the home summer.
