Ayush Mhatre ruled out for a month with hamstring recurrence
Mumbai vice-captain Ayush Mhatre will miss three Ranji Trophy matches after suffering a right hamstring recurrence during the opening fixture against Chandigarh.
Mumbai vice-captain Ayush Mhatre sustained a recurrence of his right hamstring injury during the Ranji Trophy match against Chandigarh and will miss the remainder of the first leg. The 19-year-old scored 48 on the opening day at the Wankhede Stadium before scans on Monday confirmed the setback.
Mhatre had already missed the second half of IPL 2026 after the same injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings, where he finished as the franchise's leading run-scorer with 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87. He had completed rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and featured in the Kanga League before returning for Ranji Trophy.
Substitute Suved Parkar took the field in his place. The injury opens a potential route back into the Mumbai side for Kolkata Knight Riders opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who struck consecutive double centuries for Rest of India Under-23 and Mumbai Under-23 this week.
