Bangladesh appoint Malibongwe Maketa as assistant coach until November 2028

The Bangladesh Cricket Board named South African Malibongwe Maketa as assistant coach of the men's national team on Friday. The 46-year-old replaces Mohammad Salahuddin, who moved to head the BCB's High Performance Unit. Maketa holds a Cricket South Africa Level 4 qualification and has coached South Africa A, South Africa U19 and the Warriors franchise. He served as assistant coach of the South Africa senior team from 2017 to 2019, including at the 2019 World Cup. Maketa will join the squad in the UAE for an upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan and a tri-nation ODI series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
