Bangladesh Cricket Board to form independent complaint committee
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is preparing to form an Independent Complaint Committee for women cricketers following allegations by former captain Jahanara Alam.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is setting up an independent complaint committee for its women players. The working committee met on 28 October at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and agreed the new body should sit outside the existing BCB structure.
External members are under consideration so the panel can avoid conflicts of interest. The move comes after former captain Jahanara Alam accused a team-management official of sexual assault at the 2022 Women's World Cup. An earlier inquiry committee had been formed, and the BCB had already set up a complaint mechanism in line with a 2009 High Court directive; that panel, headed by director Rubaba Dowla, was meant to create an independent process and run awareness training. A director confirmed the fresh proposal is still awaiting final approval.
