Bangladesh fined five per cent of match fee for slow over-rate

Bangladesh docked five per cent of match fee after finishing one over short in their 99-run defeat to Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi.

The ICC announced on Monday that Bangladesh must pay a five per cent match-fee penalty for their slow over-rate in the first UAE ODI tri-series game versus Zimbabwe. Referee David Gilbert applied the rule after Bangladesh finished one over behind the required pace once allowances were added. Stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy accepted the charge, so no hearing was held. Umpires Allahuddien Paleker, Izatullah Safi, Ahsan Raza and Ahmed Shah Durrani reported the breach. At the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Saturday, Bangladesh were bowled out for 172 while chasing 272 and lost by 99 runs.
