The BCCI will celebrate the IPL's 20th season in 2027 with a year-long programme of special events.
The BCCI has approved grand celebrations for the Indian Premier League's 20th season in 2027. The decision came at the board's 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on 18 September. The league will mark the milestone with a year-long programme of special events.
Arun Singh Dhumal and M Khairul Jamal Majumdar were re-elected unopposed to the IPL Governing Council. Dhumal has chaired the council since 2022 while Majumdar represents smaller state associations on the panel. The board also began planning for BCCI centenary celebrations in 2028.
The IPL began in 2008 with eight teams and expanded to ten in 2022. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have won five titles each. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the defending champions after consecutive wins in 2025 and 2026.
