BCCI considers LSG pacer as backup for Jasprit Bumrah

The BCCI is considering an LSG pacer as a backup option for Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the Afghanistan T20Is and Asian Games 2026. Bumrah has been kept in the squads for both events but his participation remains subject to fitness.

The development comes as India prepares for a packed schedule that includes the T20I series against Afghanistan starting on 13 September. Bumrah's fitness will determine whether India need to call up an additional fast bowler.

The selector's preference for an LSG bowler suggests they are looking at players who have performed in similar conditions to the venues being used for the Afghanistan series.
