BCCI links IPL schedule to India players' injury toll

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia pointed to the IPL's demands as a factor in India's injury crisis.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the two-month IPL stint before India's England assignment contributed to the recent injury wave among national players. He pointed to the demanding schedule as a factor that leaves limited recovery time.

The board is examining how the compressed calendar affects player availability across formats. Saikia said the next Future Tours Programme will include longer rest periods between series.

India lost eight of nine white-ball matches in England and Ireland during June and July. The review meeting in Mumbai on 3 September discussed workload management ahead of the 2027 World Cup cycle.
