BCCI nears decision on new senior national selector

The BCCI is close to naming Ajit Agarkar's replacement after interviews concluded on Friday.

The BCCI is close to appointing a replacement for Ajit Agarkar on the senior national selection committee after completing interviews on Friday. Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has applied for the post, while Ramesh Powar and Pragyan Ojha remain in contention.

The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjpe, questioned candidates on Rohit Sharma's ODI future and the handling of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's selection. Agarkar's contract was not renewed after he resisted selecting the 39-year-old for the 2027 World Cup.

BCCI sources indicate strong internal support for retaining Ojha as chairman, which could shape the final composition of the five-member panel.
