BCCI president says Harmanpreet Kaur will guide Smriti Mandhana

BCCI president Mithun Manhas said Harmanpreet Kaur's experience will help new captain Smriti Mandhana as India follows the men's team's succession model. Manhas said senior players have traditionally stayed on to guide new captains, citing the transitions from Ganguly to Dhoni and from Dhoni to Kohli and Rohit.

Mandhana replaced Harmanpreet as full-time captain across formats earlier this month. Manhas expects the same pattern in the women's team, with Harmanpreet remaining available as a player and mentor. Mandhana will lead India in a three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on Friday in Raipur.
