BCCI to review Rohit Sharma's 2027 World Cup future at Mumbai meeting today

The Board of Control for Cricket in India holds a review meeting in Mumbai on Thursday to discuss Rohit Sharma's future ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Centre of Excellence chief VVS Laxman are expected to attend. The agenda also covers player fitness, India's tour of New Zealand and the futures of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

Reports said Sharma was told in July that selectors had decided to move on from him for the 2027 tournament. Sharma, 38, has expressed a desire to play at the next World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes said Sharma's experience would remain an asset for a side that has won the World Cup twice.

The meeting was originally scheduled after India's white-ball series against Ireland and England but was postponed because of the Test tour of Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are also expected to attend.
