BCCI rule prevents Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from India U-19 squad

The BCCI announced the 15-member India U-19 squad for the home series against Australia but Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did not find a place despite being just 15 years old. The BCCI's age eligibility rules prevented the young batsman from selection even though he has impressed in domestic cricket. Sooryavanshi has shown promise with both bat and ball in the Duleep Trophy.

The 15-year-old enjoyed bowling in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal, claiming two wickets in his three-over spell for East Zone. Captain Ishan Kishan took a chance by handing him the ball, but Sooryavanshi backed his own ability as a wicket-taker. Fans are keen to see how the youngster adapts to the demands of red-ball cricket.

Sooryavanshi had a disappointing start with the bat in the opening game of the 2026 Duleep Trophy, managing just eight runs. East Zone still secured a convincing win and have now booked their place in the semifinals.
