BCCI president says age not criteria for Kohli and Rohit selection
Mithun Manhas said fitness and performance, not age, will determine whether Kohli and Rohit feature in the 2027 World Cup.
BCCI president Mithun Manhas said selection of any player, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, will depend on fitness and performance rather than age ahead of the 2027 World Cup. Manhas told Sportstar that the criteria should focus on whether players are fit, performing well and winning games for the country.
Kohli has scored 307 runs in his last five ODI innings at an average of 76.75. Rohit has made 389 runs in his last five ODI innings at an average of 77.80, including two centuries.
Manhas said the presence of Kohli, Rohit and Hardik Pandya will help young captain Shubman Gill distribute workload and gain from their experience. Both Kohli and Rohit retired from T20Is after India's 2024 World Cup win.
