BCCI selector candidates quizzed on Rohit Sharma's ODI future
Candidates faced direct questions on Rohit Sharma's future and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's selection pathway during interviews for the vacant post.
The BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee questioned aspirants for the vacant selector post about Rohit Sharma's ODI future, why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has not broken into the T20I XI, and potential replacements for Shubman Gill. The interviews concluded on Thursday.
Ajit Agarkar lost his extension after informing Rohit he would not be part of plans for the 2027 World Cup. The BCCI preferred continuity, and interim chairman Pragyan Ojha is expected to remain in charge.
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer and spinner Ramesh Powar were among those interviewed. The final appointment rests with the CAC and will determine the balance of the five-member panel.
