BCCI shortlists Parthiv Patel, Pragyan Ojha to replace Agarkar
BCCI looks to replace Agarkar amid reported disagreement over Rohit Sharma's ODI future.
The BCCI has shortlisted former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha as the top candidates to replace Ajit Agarkar as chairman of the men's selection committee. Agarkar is unlikely to receive an extension when his contract expires on October 4.
The selection panel reportedly informed the board of their decision to move on from Rohit Sharma to focus on younger players before discussing it with him. This triggered a public clarification from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia that contradicted the selectors' plans. The disagreement reportedly left Agarkar unhappy.
Under Agarkar's tenure, India ended its ICC trophy drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, followed by the Champions Trophy in 2025 and successfully defending their T20 World Cup title in 2026.
