BCCI urges Sooryavanshi to build career like Tendulkar after review meeting

The BCCI has placed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's career development at the centre of its planning after a review meeting in Mumbai. Secretary Devajit Saikia said the board wants the 15-year-old to build a long and successful career like Sachin Tendulkar rather than become a one-season wonder.

Sooryavanshi became the youngest male cricketer to represent India in T20Is during the series in England in July. The board discussed his progress during the meeting attended by head coach Gautam Gambhir, captains Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, president Mithun Manhas and former India batter VVS Laxman.

The BCCI is keeping a close watch on the Rajasthan Royals batter and has advised him to focus on sustained performance across formats.
