Ben Stokes retires from Test cricket after England sweep Pakistan 3-0

Ben Stokes retired from Test cricket after captaining England to a 3-0 series victory over Pakistan. Stokes led England in 25 completed Tests since taking charge in 2022 and won 22 of them.

His departure ends the Bazball approach that defined England's strategy throughout his tenure. England have appointed a new Test captain and now enter a transition period.

Planning for the post-Stokes era is underway as the team prepares for upcoming series without the all-rounder who shaped their most successful period since 2022.
