Bhuvneshwar Kumar returns to India T20I squad after four years

Bhuvneshwar Kumar returns to India's T20I squad after four years for the five-match series against New Zealand that begins on 22 October. The 36-year-old last represented India in November 2022. He replaces Ravi Bishnoi while Varun Chakravarthy also returns after missing the Asian Games.

Kumar took 28 wickets in IPL 2026, one behind Kagiso Rabada. The selection followed the end of Ajit Agarkar's tenure as chief selector, with Pragyan Ojha chairing the meeting in an interim capacity. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side with Tilak Varma as deputy. Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav are also in the 16-member squad.
